Hi Guys

I have the above bubbler which has a 200 mm 8 pipe RC and 450 mm 8 pipe PC all 2 inch.First run of the still with 25 lt of 40 % strips of cornflake recipe.Tried to run bubbler as per Stigs easy running of bubbler method.Rig is attached to my grainfather which has 2000watt boiler.Basically when it got to temperature I had RC water on for reflux and top plate loaded up with liquid which the level of kept on rising without overflowing onto plates below.I suspect this liquid then filled up the RC and then flowed over to PC and out as I could not control output flow. After taking off 12 x 500 mm cut jars the plates suddenly equalised and all loaded normally and I was then able to control output easily.Any ideas on what might be happening at the start and how to control please.I will try and upload a video so you can see what was happening. Thanks in advance Hup

Hey mate... i run a 4" 4 plate bubbler. Mine does the same thing on heat up too. For me its just a bit too much power for the plates to load properly. What happens is the vapour goes up the downcommer instead of up the bubblecap as intended. When this happens the refluxed liquid cant go down the downcommer and the plate just floods.
To fix it i just turn off both elements for a few seconds the on and away it goes. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You will see the vapour spitting up from the top of the downcommer if this is the problem.
Was the run you did a stripping run?

I would recommend putting it all together and running again as it wouldn't have seperated the fractions properly while the column was flooded.
