Officially joined the bubbler gang ;D

Postby ChaosBrew » Sun Oct 29, 2023 7:12 pm

Sooooo I finally pulled the trigger and joined the bubbler gang! Picked up a Visualizer and 50L milk can a couple weeks back from Andrew the 5SD legend and have been busy going further down the distilling rabbit hole since :handgestures-thumbupleft: This is my first distilling setup so wanted to jump right in the deep end and after reading through the forums and researching for quite some time, this seemed like the best fit for me!

Fast forward and I’ve done my citric baths, sacrificial run with some TPW and have now run my first rum (Macs rum). Have to say I’m absolutely loving running it so far :D My water cooling setup was a bit of a hassle setting up but have now got it all running perfectly. Thanks again to Andrew for all the support and the forum community for all the shared knowledge!

Anyway without any further ado - here is my new baby  (with added puppo for size comparison). Also stoked to see a good 93% on my sacrificial run (Although sad to see it being put into the cleaning cupboard and not drinking cupboard :text-lol:

Yeah might be a problem there - I wonder if the Mrs will have an issue with a ceiling “extension” :))

You know what I’ve done some rough measurements and it’s going to be super close as is - time will tell as soon as my Fast Ferment Vodka is ready to run we shall see

Just remember it gets hot at the top and if you squeeze her in there the ceiling might start yellowing from the heat

Very good point ! I actually tested it out earlier and it needs 1mm to fit (it fits without the last silicone seal :)) - but the heat may be an issue still - what sort of results would running 3 plates with the packed section produce for a neutral ? Otherwise I’ll pull out the saw :laughing-rolling:

measure your 4-2'' reducer, five star have one that is 250mm long, if yours is longer then that can be an option by changing it out

He already has the 250mm reducer .
Running 3 plates will be fine , you just need to run slower

Nice cheers both! If I can’t get her to fit that’s what I’ll do :handgestures-thumbupleft:

you can get a shorter reducer 130mm if you still want to use all four plates

Swapping to a blockhead would save even more, maybe around 120mm
