saw your post on AD and discussion about pressure relief (choke)

thought a coffee machine over pressure preset safety valve might be something of interest

you could also make an old school verison.
like a pressure cooker weight that hisses when it gets to "pressure"
or in our case "over pressure"

That's exactly what I was looking for, and if I bought 6 of them I could use the bit on the tags for boiling chips

OK I'm getting close to running this thing now, just got the cooling manifold to install and she's all done

I'm hoping to do a cleaning run on sunday, and then the big test with a rum wash I've been saving for a special occasion.

I'll give a full description and run down of the build once I've run it.

Cheers.

That's a good looking piece of machinery McStill. I imagine you have put a lot of thought and research into that, you should be justifiable proud. :)

G'day Heffers,

I put a lot of time into researching the first one of these I built, I never asked the experts a question on how to, I know it's just another build trying to perfect and confirm my ideas to share with others and you wont see no chest beating from me in this regard.

You'll notice elsewhere people are trying to over build this type of still even tho they're getting fantastic results from it in it's simplest form, well, my objective is to build this style of pot still (dont give a fuck what some would like to have you beleive it is) with the view that anyone can build one with a little extra thought.

This build will be offered up for sale soon, it will fund my latest brain fart that I guarantee nobody has even thought of at the hobby level ;)

Cheers.

Daily rent??? :?

Yeah Andy it'll be on a boiler if nobody buys it ;)

I've run a bit late finishing it and was hoping to have put a wash through it by now, but I gotta heap of stuff to take care of before thursday and will be out of action for a day or two after it.

But I've got another here the same but bigger, and one Ive started building that's bigger again, plus a few other different designs, so we'll be running something

I ran this rig on saturday morning and it went quite well, it pulled a steady 92% with a lot more flavor coming through than my perforated plated still.

A few little minor mods and a bit of adjusting and tested again today, it ran perfectly from start to finish and did exactly as I expected it to do, it yielded an ABV of 90% for the run & has an excellent carry over of flavor from the rum wash I put through it.

I'm declaring it a success, so it wont be cut up for other things

Cheers.

Yeh it is but it's a 3" rig with single 2" bubble caps.

If you're doing a 4" rig you should use 3/4 down comers :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey Mac,what sort of seals/gaskets do you use for your sight glasses?I'm just waiting on a sheet of silicon to turn up,just wrapping the sight glasses in Teflon ATM but can't do em up too tight and sometimes get a bit of a leak. Also what thickness glass would you use for 3-4" peepers?
Was just gunna silicon the sight glasses on but that's a bit rough and a pain in tha arse if I did break one
