heres some of the stuff that went into the build
this was used to keep the rod for the plates the right height
Image
the rc is 7 x 5/8" x 100mm long

i ran a molasses wash and the rc can not cool it
i am thinking i am running to much power
i am using 2 x2400w elements to heat up then
just the one flat out
do you think i should use a voltage controller
there seems not much flavor but that could be the 1st gen
the take of was avg around 88 to 90 %

hey Mac or anyone of you guys out there
when i ran my first and second wash through the still
the bottom plate wasnt loading like the rest
is that common or i am thinking the height from the boiler
to the first plate might be to close

What do you mean your RC can't cool it?
Are you saying you cant get full reflux?

If you run under full reflux (or mostly reflux) for too long, you can strip some of the flavor out. It ends up back in the boiler, not in the bottle.

Havn't run a 3" myself, but 2400 watt might be just a bit much, not sure. If cash is good, you could try an 1800 watt in one side and see...but I'd be checking out the water coming out of the condenser and make sure its flowing well.

Just saw your post, if the bottom plate is not loading, you might be pushing too much vapor through.

Thanks empty
i think i will make a voltage controller
your suggestion of to much vapour coming through
sounds like the prob to me
do you think making the height from the boiler to the
plate further would make a differance :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Possibly.
It could be the j cup boiling.
If you cut your heat it might fix it but slow it down, add some height might fix it and keep collection speeds up.
Or maybe get some more coolant humpin through the RC.
I'm only having a guess here. Use your own feelings.

no worries mate. It may be a bit hard to get your head around. Everything changes daily and I struggle and I build and fix PC's and have built sites and forums but that was like 8 + years ago lol so a little rusty.

I dont make much sense half the time so that makes it hard lol
