Hey all, going to give Macs 4' rum bubbler a go. Been contemplating way to much and just need to pull finger and do it. Went and got the tri clamps, and a few other bits and pieces today. found some good prices on reducers today to $11.50for 4' to 2.5', $12.70 for 4' to 3' and $32 for 6' to 4', can see a bigger bubbler in the near future!.Will start with the product condenser and de fag this weekend and get more into over Chrissy, got 2 weeks off  . Will post progress pics. To fucken hot in the shed today to do shit.

Ok, enough weird bi talk :wtf: .

Column will be, 4' by 3' reducers x 6.
De fag will be 3' by 180mm with eleven 12mm (not 1/2') inner tubes, inlet from base on one side, outlet to opposite side at higher level of de fag, with release outlet with valve at the base on same side as top outlet.
From de fag to 3' to 2' reducer into two 2' 90's, or mandrel bend, not sure yet.
2' shotgun at 450mm with three 1/2' innards.
Bubble caps to come.

if you really really try hard and then try some more you can get 7 into one of those bastards...ideal for the hotter locns.

It's no good for your karma levels but it sure cools well.

Why caps may I ask? be keen to hear your views.

btw have a look at tickle's idea for Mac's reduced cooling volume idea....having run the new plater 3 times it seems very quick to react and still holds whole col in full reflux.

7 1/2' in 2'?, there'd be no room for water lol. How would that be more effective in a hot loc?. The main reason for the caps is because mac has proven it works, plus Im not really interested in drilling 5 millions holes atm. I think caps are more forgiving cause they can be played around with more, melt em down, try something new, that doesn't work just weld do back to how they were. I looked at the de dag you mentioned, good idea, in just trying something else first and it will be easy to change back if it doesn't work. Thanks for the feed back about it.

True,

bugga all room but it realistically needs any a mm or 2 to create thermal transfer...Over kill for your current locn...over kill for SA but I'll never need to ask for more!

higher cooling flow rate to product condenser= rapid heat transfer

btw read pm re wish list...a soln to drilling...

Dude, I hope you did 2 of them.

Maybe mush those 3, 1/2" holes out to 3/4" for 3, 3/4" tubes on the prod condenser.

BT, slots and alcohol surface tension might not mix, this one is up to you. You might be the one to de-bunk some old theory. I've got my doubts, but I remain open minded.

I said "ends" ;-) :teasing-neener: . I was going to do that originally with the 3/4' but thought it might be over kill on a small bubbler. I want to stick to my plan so I don't end up changing it every 2 seconds and end up asking to many questions and annoying people. I apreciate your feed back though :handgestures-thumbupleft: . What's BT and slots empty, not familiar with that terminology. Was looking at that condenser yesterday, beautiful piece of work!!. I've been curious with the angled ends, is that for centering the output?.

That truly is a nice condenser,

EG sounds like I need to order some over sized plates for crimping and slotting... Happy to make em but be F'd If I'm going to pull my plate tree out to test it....sounds like a 2 plate test bed is now required...shit! and was going to have Xmas off.
