Linno's got a Five Star Bubbler

Postby Linno » Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:07 pm

With all the current bubbler builds underway i feel like i have cheated a bit, but as soon as I saw the plans and samples for these Stills I just had to have one.. :music-deathmetal:

i have had some real life stuff to sort out this last week but now I have made some progress and this will be run this weekend.

Firstly I have gone with the simple 'Mcrum Still" plumbing, a single line in and out and sending preheated water to the reflux condensor from the product condensor, with my lack of experience running a bubbler it seems like a good place to start...

a few specs - single caps, 4 plates, electric 100ltr boiler. its a modest 2100 from the floor and my boiler is a fair bit taller than a keg. I am making a boiler cupboard/trolley that is mobile and will mount a bench top for collection. will use this thread to post progress on that and also its first run. if I can work out the vids I will do that too.

These stills need to seen to be fully appreciated, My photos dont do it the justice it deserves. 110% worth the wait..Cheers Mac.

I agree , can't wait to see more people filming the process so we can see the details and steps in action.

2013 should be the year of YouTube clips!

it does look pretty neat in the shed and I cant wait to run it, i have my 3rd gen McBourbon knock offs and a rum wash that are well overdue while I waited for this to arrive. i am running it this weekend and I will make some vids to post.

Aussie - it is on a converted wine fermenter vat thing that Caveman made, i offered to store it for him while he moved house and then told him hes not gettin it back- possesion is 9/10th of the law... :laughing-rolling:

Thanks for the offer Mac i will let you know when I am ready to roll. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

As promised I ran my FSD bubbler this weekend, started with a bourbon knock off wash that was ready to go.

I took up Mac on his offer to come round and check that I had set it all up correctly and to give me a run down on the operation. I am not a plumbers monkey wrench so we couldnt start until mac had fixed all my leaky plumbing :violence-stickwhack: once that was sorted and he was satified I had set it all up correct, I got a free bubbler running tutorial :-B , which was made pretty easy because this still did everything he said it could, how it would, when it should. :happy-partydance: not only is this still super quality but super reliable and easy to run - which I did myself this morning with a rum wash :D

i have the simple single valve set up which i reccomend for the newby type like me, makes these things as simple as a pot.

thanks to Mac for takin the time out on Aussie day to come round and help me out and spend the time to make sure I was up to speed with this still  and for not spitting out me early attempts at the bourbon knock off that were on offer - at least not while i was lookin :laughing-rolling:

enjoy the vids and pics

I'm just happy, you're happy :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Your UJ will improve tenfold now, I might even be able to drink it without :puke-huge:

But to be honest, after speaking with Caveman, the only reason I turned up was to check out your mrs :laughing-rolling:
