My new bubbler

Postby MacStill » Sat Feb 09, 2013 5:28 pm

This one is going to be my keeper :happy-partydance:

DSC_0052.JPG

4 plates yet to decide what type, I might go for valved eventually but for now probably just the single bubble caps... not sure

6" double pumpa thumpa

Still need to make a condenser for it, I let my 9 tube 2.5" go with the last FSD Mac 4 I sold (lucky bugger) so I'm thinking I could fit 3 more tubes in a similar one :D

This one has been a very slow build but I'm pretty keen to finish it now, just got to get a rum still out of the way tomorrow and I can spend more time on this one.

Cheers.

Can we get a topic called Copper Porn where people just post endless photos of fully polished sparkly stills like this please?

Did you have a go at making a ferrule for it with that template?
That template suited my reducer with minimal filing to suit :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It's hard to imagine you making this now with all those shinny SS ones you got

BTW ,did you do easy flanges on the Tees or solder on SS ferrules ?

SS ferrules soldered on mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The SS rigs are selling so fast it'll be a while before I can keep one, the one I will keep will be a 6" model though....

I do want to own and run one of my SS rigs eventually, once the orders slow I'll sneak one into my kit ;-)

I don't think theres anything more sexy than a hand crafted copper still, stainless just looks to machine made.

Yep I'm with you googe but lots of ppl like the shiny stuff and to be fair they keep looking good without polishing where as copper goes brown and then black pretty quickly or in the case of my old leibig green :laughing-rolling:

With those temps, ya could just leave it in the shed with the solder wrapped around it and it will finish its self
