Dephlegmator plumbing

Postby 2MEKE » Sat Apr 06, 2013 7:38 pm

20 days working straight doesn't get a still built :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:
Tomorrow is shed day :D

Below are the 2 options I'm looking at for the bubbler plumbing.

A key decider is water usage...I want it to use as little as possible.
I am leaning towards the top option...thinking is that the cold water feeding into both condensers will mean I can run both at lower flow rates.
Valves will be 1/4" SS needles. Water supply will be town mains.

What are the flaws in my plan??

Reason for considering the 2nd option is it seems a lot of people use it however do they run higher flow rates to offset the fact the RC is being feed warmer water or does it not make that much difference?

Cheers

I use the top one, I put my valves on the outlets, and feed the fresh water in the bottom of the R.C., but it matters little. You'll still use a bit of water to knock down a batch.

The bottom one might help take the sensativity away from R.C. adjusting.

Howdy,

I use top but consider in winter to keep the RC responsive due to colder water supply and lag to get RC to respond I'm use the second one. The closer to real time the RC is the better you are imho.
