$28 on eBay was the summary.

Yeah that was the way I was going to go if I end up getting one, those other ones do look fancy DrunkAs, but reckon they would be pricey :-B

So Sunday just gone got to do the first proper run through this rig :music-deathmetal: The wash I used is here.

I have also fixed the coolant problems I was having, bought a bigger pump :D

Upgraded my 400W to a 750W submersible from bunnings and also shortened my ridiculously long hoses.

Doing this made it a shit load easier to find the sweet spot and get the coolant flow right.

Didn't even need to see how much was being output, just went off how fast it was coming out the parrot and how the PC felt :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Mac's advice with the single valve is well worth listening to, once you find the sweet spot do not fuck with the valve.

The run went great and amazed at the smell of the cuts so far as to how much hearts there is, can't be happier with how it went, just looking forward to the next run Sunday with the other half of the wash :D

Only just fits into the groove in the colourbond under my carport!

It pulled 93% for the entire run at about 2.5L per hour :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Ended up getting about the whole lot out of the boiler I reckon :-D

Will taste test Tuesday, am aiming for about 15L @ 40% hearts :happy-partydance:

Will be trying copper mesh packed for the entire section next time and see if I can up the ABV.

Will keep a sample from both and see which tastes better, off the scoria or the copper mesh :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hmmmm  93% seems a little low, maybe a little slower take off would be better...... how clean is the product ?

What size rocks you got in there, maybe a little coarse ?

Linno ran his with scrubbers and got 94.5% of clean neutral @ 2 l/ph so I'm sure we can improve things, but do you reckon the packed section might be too short ?

Do you think a 3" diameter packed section 200mm longer would be better ?

The rocks were fairly chunky, might have to pick out the small ones next time I try scoria.

93 was as good as I could get running it slow as I could.

I just don't reckon the rocks were giving enough reflux but I reckon all copper mesh should improve the ABV.

Having said that the test will be in the taste at the end of the day, the scoria may well be better even at a lower ABV

Will be a while before my next neutrel run but will update when it happens :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think carry over flavour or lack there of is more important than the ABV , was it neutral ?or was there so flavour left ? yeah you don't want to much void in the packed section as that area is wasted (doing nothing) 93% is what it would have been delivered to that module at so  its failed to raise the ABV ok well as long as it stripped flavour it accomplished its gaol if not there is a problem with the packing or the way its packed

It's smelling pretty good in the cuts jars :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It will stay where it is until Tuesday before I sample ;-)

You need to get out a bit more, the FSD packed sections are 400mm long :teasing-neener:

Sam, I am not a fan of scoria in a packed section over the top of my plates ...It just never delivered the figures for me that others achieved. Mate I simply cannot go past stainless scrubbbers hard packed for that last 1 to 2 % gain. That is not to say you even need it. If you are pulling 93% plus, it all comes down to the purity of the 7% that is left... If you are getting some congener carry over, sure push harder for purity. But I often find that you can get a good result, but still 1 to 2 % from azeotrope purity...That last 1 to 2% can drive you crazy. But it all comes down to what comprises the 7% that is not ethanol. If it tastes good and is sweet at 93% you are doing great work. Take care.

yep Doc that's what I was hinting at to :handgestures-thumbupleft:
I am at the moment doing some preliminary tests on another strata I believe will way out perform scoria (which I found quite successful). Anyway interesting to note that this strata has been soaking in fores heads and hearts for the last 2 + weeks to test for possible contamination, strangely it seems to have greatly improved the rank heads, very unexpected and may prove to be its downfall if the impurities its absorbed can't be removed from the potential packing

Done the cuts and happy to say that the hearts are as good or better than anything I have produced with my reflux rig :music-deathmetal:

Even though it was only 93% it has still cleaned it up nicely, there was one jar in the hearts where I sped up the rate to about 3.5L and hour and that was harsh as :handgestures-thumbdown:

Running at the 2.5L an hour produced a very clean neutrel.

I will save a sample of this to test against a copper packed section :handgestures-thumbupleft:
