Although we have turned this into a vs thread :D
Some good points from both i think when I get my bubbler i will run gas until i have set up for electric
C i suck at doing any thing with wires and like to do shit my self for the most part but not when it comes to wires
So for me to set up a keg with elements its gona cost me some ware around $250-$300ish may b more yea the power will be shit loads cheaper for sure but if i do it I'm gona get a hell of a shock :laughing-rolling:

I don't think gas is that bad at all if ur dumb anuff to stick ya arm face or any other part of ya body on or near the flame u prob shouldn't be running a still and if u run outside i reckon its no worse than electric

Al that said i still want a power to my keg in the near future
Cheers guys for all ur insight
Much appreciated

You had to put priceless Pleasure into the equation. I thought it was Just down to Basic economics and safety :laughing-rolling:

Havnt logged in for a while or looked at this thread before.
Quote bt1 Ethanol vapours will not sink. They rise, lighter in gas form than air.
BT advise like that can and will cause accidents, it is completely wrong.

Crow gets the gold star :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Ethanol vapors will sink to floor level, thats one reason we should always distill in a well ventilated area ( not the shed with all the doors shut). Its also said by some that the minimum safe working distance between a naked flame and the output of a still should be at least 6 feet.
The following link gives a bit of an idea what vapors / fumes spreading at floor/ ground level can do.

Petrol expands in volume by 250% not sure about ethanol

But those videos show just how dangerous things can get.... and how fast.

Thanks for the reminder

Very true,i have a physical barrier between my flame and distillate output.
That is a brick bbq and a fibre cement sheet. I also have an emergency shut off which is a long cable attached to the gate valve.

I've been converted.
I used to run my nixon stone on gas and thought it was pretty good.

I now use 2 Mac2400w elements (one after heat up) on the bubbler and it's quicker, warmer cos I'm indoors and I know when it's coming to the the boil, like a kettle it gets quiet when boiling.

Anyone want to buy a 3 ring burner?
