Ok read it as liquid going across the floor and vapour build up in a confined space ;-)

Agree, do the most you can to be safe, don't just assume because you are running electric you are safe :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I brew out outside so gas dont worry me about a kaboom with a bubbler i would be doing it inside/ outside if its a good day may as well enjoy it

I'm not worried about gas indoors with ventlation i am going to look into getting some braided line for my gas line though good idea and yea electric proberly is cheaper in the long run but i smashed out 160 odd litres in four stripping runs and one spirit run on a 9kg bottle on Sunday at $30 a fill not to bad

Yep that's about the same gas usage I get.
One 9kg fill deals to a 200l fermenter.
Ie 4 or 5 runs.

Err ethanol vapour is heavier than air and will sink. That being said I use gas and a 9 kg bottle does about four runs in my 18 gal boiler (give or take) . A bottle is around $20 bucks so I don't know if the sparky stuff would be a whole hell of a lot cheaper, easier and technically safer but with due diligence there should be no issues either way. Electricity is not an option so that maybe behind my bias ;-)

Local bunnings $19.80.

Im using gas on my pot for spirit runs as I haven't made myself a controller yet. One clear advantage for me running electric is the Keg isn't blistering hot right after a run as I don't have a drain set up.

For me, electricity costs $0.27/kWh. 2x 2400W elements take half an hour to boil a 30-35L charge, then lets say a run takes 3hrs on 1x 2400W element. That's 9.6kWh x $0.27 = $2.60 for one run. Less if you use a power controller. That's nearly 10 runs for the cost of one gas bottle refill and I don't have to leave the house :snooty:

$36.95 for a 9kg swap and go bottle from the servo or drive 20min each way for a $28 refill at the gas plant.

I enjoy running gas more, the noise .the heat. the singed arm hair and eyebrows. It's my happy place running the still under the trees with the gas burner roaring away and liquid goodness streaming out.

Just a thought gentlemen. If you have solar panels, I would have thought electricity would be a lot cheaper. Well in WA anyway.

Besides the cost. The last thing I want to be thinking while sitting in hospital burnt from eyebrow to arsehole is f***K gas.

This stuff is very flammable. Just be very comfortable or know what your doing, if you are using gas. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Before you write off gas and singed eyebrows consider building a BD747
