Here is my flow control. I have since switched out the 7lpm on the left to a 2lpm like to other one. It gives great control and you can instantly see of you get a fluctuation.

Water in the bottom right which feeds both flow controls. Top left to RC top right to PC.

yes the bilge pumps up every 40 to 50 L so the change in pressure would be minimal. My rum is tasting great now after a few mods so must be ok. :D

Anyone got a link to a that suites "garden hose attachment is 1/2" x 3/4" BSP" at bunnings or masters?

I did find a https://www.masters.com.au/product/900043651/champion-brass-fittings-3-4-x-1-2-bsp-reducing-nipple and then just find something that connects onto that? I am very much a n0ob when it comes to pumping stuff up!

Just starting to set up my cooling system, I got an IBC, and, after reading the earlier comments, ended up going for a 750W submersible pump for it.


I also got the piping to rum between the still & IBC; going for 19mm black poly pipe (just the cheap, irrigation stuff), after I had the guy at bunnings try to sell me 2 other types of piping - both of which were WAY more expensive. (Many thanks to you Macstill - that hurried phone call on the Saturday arvo to you actually saved me a shitload of cash!) ^:)^

As well as that, I got all the attachments that will run off the still


All in all, it wasn't a cheap exercise, coming in at just over $220 (and the IBC was free), however, the way I see it, if you're going to get a still that will literally last generations, and produce booze at a quality that you'dbe hard pressed to afford at a bottle-o, you may as well do it right the whole way.

At least now, if the dishwasher gets put on, it won't ruin a run - and I'll be saving a shitload of water, too! :D :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I am wondering though, do I need some sort of pressure reducer to stop fluctuations? I saw 100kpa, 200kpa, and 300kpa while shopping for the other stuff, or Is it overkill, as the pump stops that issue?

Would you care to share what length hoses you ended up getting.
I'm off to Bunnings next week & will be getting some hoses & Gate valves but they do come in a few different sizes.

Crusty, I'll measure tomorrow. Like most things I do at Bunnings, I leave with a box full of stuff I think I might use and then take the leftovers back a few weeks later. Fish

Fittings all half inch. Hose length 55,45 and 28cm. These are approximate - the labels are long gone!

Hey Mac sorry for the thread dig but are you using needle or gate valves?

Also where is the best place to pickthis stuff up from?

Gate valves are the go for cooling... I think Mac gets most of his gear from Bunnings :handgestures-thumbupleft:

i've been out of it for a while, and noticed this thread. maybe i've missed something, but i'm a bit confused. i used to have this set up, and mac recommended a single valve setup. the pc is so efficient that even a trickle is enough to condense the product, so the rc was the only thing that needed to be controlled. nice and simple. why the change to a 2 valve setup?

Is there any benefit from controlling the water flow into the PC? I normally run it flat out and just control the RC

I am upgrading to stainless lines atm and am working out if I need a valve for the PC
