So there is no pressure build up in system, it prevents surging in the parrot. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Edit to slow.

But where is it connected to? Surely not a 6mm hole vented to the atmosphere??

Note the pipe that comes off a 45 deg that is the vent to atmosphere .

An unattached parrot dosnt need this vent for obvious reasons.

So basically he has drilled a hole in the top of the reducer so that it can vent. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Yes the hole just vents to atmosphere to prevent surging in the parrot. I do get the occasional drip from it, but it works.

Well I started pulling the glasser section down to give it a clean the other day. To say it was grubby is an understatement. Not even game to show photos

Rather than use elbow grease, I decided to throw the bits and pieces into a bucket half filled with sand, water and a couple of drops of dishwashing liquid. If you are after a 'smooth dull' finish, it worked perfectly.

But since it was apart, I felt the urge to make some 'improvements'. So I rigged up each of the square plates in the drill press with angle grinder clamped to the table and made them round. Whilst at it, I drilled a 2mm hole in each of the plates so they can drain fully when a run is over and turned the locating holes for the booker rod into slots for easier assembly/disassembly. Also added a punch mark for alignment of plates and notification of topside.

Bottom plate and top ring after tidy up.

All bolted together. Took a little while to sort the leaks out but got it done. Obligatory photo on the boiler below.

Nice mods mate, she looks real sexy all cleaned up :handgestures-thumbupleft:
The drain holes are a great addition, they help alot.

I cleaned mine the other day but did it slightly different. I've made a 4" blanking plate that I triclamp to the bottom of the colomn and I then just fill her up with citric acid and leave it for a day or two, empty it out and give it a good flush with water, works a treat :handgestures-thumbupleft:

This was definitely beyond a citric acid bath. I have a blanking plate lying around, so will be sure to give it a clean more regularly from now on.

Added spout with temp sensor mounted in bottom. Allows for monitoring of output temperature (and the possibility of targeting 20°c).

Why can't I see videos???!!! :angry-banghead:

anyhow... That's a great idea with the temp probe. Does it hold much liquid though? Will it cause any smearing problems?
