Looking good Huggy and progressing quickly.
Are they the glasses Mac was referring to in his earlier post? Or did you stick with the Primus glasses?
Cheers Mick.

Cheers everyone, it's certainly upped the motivation to finish it quick seeing it partially assembled. I'm glad we went bubble caps in the end, it's sped up the build considerably!

Nah, they are just the large Primus lantern glasses.

So a few more bits fabricated and its starting to look like a little more complete! Our joiner / gin basket is now done, easy flanges added and to be a bit fancy my mate has tig welded them.......I think he is going to run some silver solder over the joins just in case there are any pinholes!

This weekend will be condensers and a new parrot, pick a few clamps/seals from Mac then we should be ready for a vinegar run. We have a 200L second gen UJSM and 200L of TPW waiting in the wings for when we are ready to christen it. Cleaning run might be a bunch of xmas booze I have that I'll never drink....... :laughing-rolling:

Re: Glasser build - "2 buck Betty"

Postby huggy_b » Fri Aug 08, 2014 5:01 pm

Well our glasser is now complete, we still have to make a 500mm packed section but we have what we need to get going on our vinegar clean, sacrificial wine run and then finally our 2nd generation 200L of sour mash. We are all three car guys, so it was only natural to use dash fittings on our cooling system :))

We've named our still "2 buck Betty" - we needed something to fit the rubber feet and a 50c piece was perfect. 4 feet x 50c = $2.......

And here she is in all her glory. Sunday is go day......can't wait :-D
