Huggy, as I just said on wiifm's build, I've been catching up on stuff around here and these builds you guys are putting together with the glass sections look amazing!

You boys have some serious skillsets there, and have put together a functional masterpiece. Brilliant build guys! Love the added touch to the cooling connections and hoses too :handgestures-thumbupleft:

There'd better be some tits in your video or i'm not interested...the bar has been set high boys....just sayin'. :snooty:

Big day today! Lots of work from everyone has gone into getting Betty' running for the first time. I managed to get the 500mm extended section finished up last night ready for the run.
Vinegar cleaning run was sent through with no problems other than a leaky water inlet which was quickly sorted. Sacrificial booze run completed with no problems also. We stripped down everything including the plates between the two cleaning runs as there is a bit of shite coming through as expected from the fresh build. We were a little puzzled by the staining on the underside of the plates after the vinegar run. Have you guys seen this before on a run? It is actually a mark in the copper. I'm guessing it is just from the heat generated?

Pic of Betty's first run... She measures in at a hefty 2725mm in all her glory! Aint' she pretty?... The boy not so much!

And as promised, a quick video... minus the boobs  For now... ;-)

Overall, the day was a great success spent with good mates and a few drinks watching our hard work from the past couple of months come to bubbling life!! We can't wait to put a wash through her sometime this week.

Cheers guys.

Nice!

Good to see the first run done and now onto the good stuff :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That marking I'd suggest is where the patena has not as yet coated the fresh copper. It will, several runs later and she'll be dark stained all over. As to why it's random I've never got a handle on that issue.

Hey Guys
Nice to see her running. :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Any reason for why you made the legs so tall?
You could lose some of that height if need be.....
Nice build, thanks for sharing.

As for the boobs.... if you do.... they better be female of an appropriate age. :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Agreed, but we decided to set the legs at that height so we could fit a 20L plastic bucket under it to empty out the boiler.

Yeah?
About six weeks from the start of the thread. Seems usual i think........Oh I dunno. What are you on about?
I only start pipin in when the build stagnates. These guys have been pretty steady.

Well done, looks awesome. Almost looks like it runs on NOS with those funky hoses on it.

Hmmmm... NOS injection would certainly provide some extra cooling properties! This gives me an idea...

Ha! But in all seriousness guys, thanks very much for your kind words. Especially from some of the seasoned builders on here. Really does mean a lot to read your comments ^:)^ ^:)^
Betty' wouldn't be here if it wasn't the information you guys put up in here. So thanks very much.

Not so fast...6 weeks / 3 fellas = 2 weeks...... :teasing-tease:

BTW ..again ..bloody nice result. ..my theory on the patchy look on the plates is that its where vinigar slashed up and stayed as drops while doing its vinigar on copper thing.
I'm guessing the top side of the plates were a lot less patchy
