Matt's Glasser - Another Primus Bubbler

Hi Guys,
I've been running my 2" pot for a while and the bubbler bug has bitten hard. Really wanted to get a rig off Mac but the Mrs shut that idea down real fast when we found out we have a bub on the way lol. My compromise was to build one myself haha. I'm an IT guy and have never really done any soft soldering or metal work before so saw this as a chance to learn some new skills and make some better hooch at the same time.. Win Win!! :-D
I've been collecting copper bit's and pieces for the last couple of months and have finally started the build. Specs will be as follows:
- 5 plates (5th will be removable) using 110mm Primus glasses and 4" pipe flattened for the plates which are 150mm diameter.
- Single 50mm x 50mm bubble caps with 38mm x 35mm high risers and 19mm downcomers with a 25mm bath depth.
- 4" x 150mm RC with 5 x 19mm tubes.
- 2" x 600mm PC with 4 x 13mm tubes.
- 4" x 500mm packed section for neutrals.
Spent all day last Sunday in the garage while my BWKO was running slow on the Pot and managed to get quite a bit done.
Soldered Bubble Caps on spare plate and cut the excess off with aviation snips. Then cleaned them up on the bench grinder and hand file:
Slotted them with an Ozito rotary tool (Poor mans Dremel) and used the hose clamp as a depth guide:
Bubble Caps made.. Only one slotted though so far. Rest will be done this weekend:
PC done. Just need to solder my easy flanges on and clean it up a little:
My clamps, bends and reducers rocked up yesterday from Mac.. Got to say the quality of the stainless is awesome! Also got my plates flattened, cut and rod holes drilled. This is as far as I've got so far, not bad for 12 hours work lol. My threaded rod should rock up by the end of week. Hope to finish off the plates and start building the plate tree this weekend. Then I've just got the RC and parrot to go. Hopefully won't be too long :music-deathmetal:
I'll keep you up to date with the progress!
