Thanks Fellas,

The rum is smelling awesome already and it's less than a week on the oak. Got a 50l BWKO ferment underway this arvo so hopefully another run in a week or so. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Done about 70 litres of the BWKO recipe through it now and I seem to be getting a nice scum ring forming on the lower half of the first plate glass.

I plan to strip it down before the next run and will clean it off but is this normal and do those with glass bubblers need to do a semi-regular strip down to keep the glass clean?

I did get a short video of it bubbling but don't have anywhere to publish it for linking.

That's a beautiful piece of work, you should be proud. Especially when you sip...

Is there a more detailed build thread that you based it on?

Here's a photo of the glass crud I mentioned earlier, this is after about 10 runs.

Cleaned up no worries but not sure if others are seeing the same buildup?

I also run the plates through a citric bath followed by a baking soda bath then a good rinse with water to give them a clean up. Do I need to do another cleaning run after this wash down or will it be fine to go straight back into the rum?

Cheers!

That looks to be fairly normal especially for rum washes.
