S.D's turn at bubblers

Postby stubbydrainer » Mon Dec 19, 2011 7:59 pm

Well folks it's time for me to jump on the band wagon and build myself a 4" plate column still
I also have to empty my photo's from my phone so I thought I'd stick some of em here

I will let you use your imagination on what's involved in cutting a piece off a length of pipe , splitting it , annealling it , flattening it and cutting it into 4" circles with tinsnips ( cos I didn't get any piccy's of that  )
So I'll start with makin'em round
Image

Ta Da a Perfect fit
Image

Marking out and drill, drill, drill 3 down and 1 to go ( thank god for that)
Image

and finally a finished tree

Cheers

Dont be jealous, just admire and be inspired by the artisan talent of this guy

My bet is, this will be one of the best bubblers built to date & could end up being an inspiration to many people.

Cheers.

Appreciation; check in fact I appreciate a lot of the creativity and workmanship from quite a few of you guys around the boards. Most of you are pretty handy.

Jealousy; can't help it

Ah one day.....one day.

I guessed so, it's the only tool that I can get to turn copper without it grabbing.

Working on the column vapour outlet atm

I'm using a bit of 2 1/2" tube and it's all shaped up ready to go
Image

then I better cut a hole in the column, god bless Dremels, they truly are a gods sent piece of kit
Image

This joint is cleaned, fluxed up and ready to silver solder together
