Hi Guys,

So I finished work early today, keen to get home and start making this thing, so I knocked up my PC well nearly I got called out to unblock a shitter at 4 when I was nearly done but here's a few pics, its 2.5" 470mm long with 9 x 3/8" tubes in the guts. I made a quick template on autocad for the holes and centre punched the plates silver soldered the tubes to the plates and put it down the pipe soldered the plates in, pressure tested no leaks. Happy fuckin days :happy-partydance:
Ill jam the 2" and 3/4" reducers in tomorrow and put threads on the in/outlet.
So after dealing with unknown amount of tampons in the shitter I got home and lost me mojo :crying-blue:
So I just knocked up a few 4" rings for easy flanges and that's it for day 1

Mate you're a gun. At this rate won't belong before you're finished. Also love the work boots.

The 180 looks pretty tight, will there be room for a glasser beside the 2.5" PC?

Edit - Disregard, looked closer at the pic.

Cheers Guys,
As for the RC what's your thoughts on 4" 150 tall I could fit 9x 3/4 tubes in there but Is it overkill? I'm paranoid about not being able to knock it down.

I fucken dropped a huge balled up end of solder stick on those boots today, and without knowing my boot flung into action and got rid of the hot debris before any damage was done. I recommend em

I made my rc 100mm with 9x 3/4 tubes. You don't want to have it too long otherwise it takes more time to settle from input adjustment.

150mm sounds good to me.

150mm is a good length for the rc. Mine is about 175mm and works good. As I use tap water for cooling its better to be longer, but it does take longer to steady out after an adjustment. As its longer it uses much less water and the control is more touchy. I also have clear tubing so I can see how much cooling water is flowing. If your using a recirc system you can make it heaps shorter. I'm pretty sure Mac made his about 50mm long.

So I made a bit of progress today nearly finished the PC, just need all my bits to turn up so I can mount the parrot at the right height for the bench.
The RC is just about there, waiting on A&E plates so I can stick the RC straight in the top plate.
Out of interest i'll tell ya that lead free soft solder flows no where near as good as 50/50 PB/SN. (first time ive soft soldered in 15 years!) but fuck its easy to clean up :happy-partydance:
Anyhow this is where I'm at day 2.

Cheers,
Ian

Haha doubt it Maddog!

I made the RC 150 high with 9 1/2" tubes cos I didn't have any 3/4 laying around yesterday. its a bit rough so if you guys reckon I should use 3/4 tubes I just make another one. Plates should be here from A&E in a couple of days, I've got caps coming tomorrow from my plumbing supplier so I'm at a bit of a stand still at the moment.
Wrong time of year to be waiting for the postie, should've planned ahead :angry-banghead:

So I got some of my 1" caps for the bubble caps, question is would it affect performance if they were different heights but all the risers the same height?
I was thinking of making them all different just for looks. I was planning on 20mm downcomer and 30mm risers with the caps staggered if this makes sense.

Cheers Guys,

I can't think of any issues aslong as the risers are the same height
You would have to work out which one is best where so that when you stager the plates the larger ones dont hide the smaller ones for a clear view of bubbles :D
