Cheers lads. Shipped off to work for 10 days this morning so progress will slow down a bit... Should be able to organize the last few bits I need, and some tools, while I'm away.

Back from work for the weekend, went out this morning and bought some soldering goodies :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Got my caps soft soldered first. Clean, flux, little bit of heat, voila! Got it sorted by the 4th one. Obviously went with a MAPP torch, too...
image.jpg

How many easy flange rings can you make out of a length of 1/4"?

Exactly one less than you need :laughing-rolling:

image.jpg

The 2" there is for the start of the blockhead, I've since hard soldered it. Torch handled the ring > 2" no worries.

Almost at the stage of needing a drill and grinder now... I'll see what I can do.

Also got my sight glasses sussed out, they're gunna be cooool :-B

And I've got some ideas for my cooling lines too, something a bit different :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Excellent effort Zac, even ye old tooth brush thinks so with that grin :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I keep having same problem with my 1/4". yea this is enough, and bam no where near enough :))

As for the 2", did you braze the ring on and the 2" onto some 4", or just the ring so far. Curious what your torch can handle with brazing.

I've got plenty of 1/4" left, just have to wrap some rings. On second count I think I have enough anyway...

I haven't brazed the 2" to the 4" yet, not sure if it will do it but I'll have a go! All of the other modules will be soft soldered, ill just use hard solder on a few bits I don't wont falling apart while I'm soft soldering, like condenser internals ;-)

Dunno what you're on about WJ! 8-}

My old man dropped off my angle grinder this morning so I cleaned the caps up a bit with a flap disc
image.jpg

And then i started on the sightglasses!

I've got a bit of ~7mm thick copper bus bar that I'm cutting into rings to fit inside 3" pipe with a 50mm ID hole. Only one done so far,and no pics of it before I fitted it in the 3"...

image.jpg

A while ago I scored half a dozen brass rings from work. They're about 7mm thick, OD 77mm, ID 51mm. Knew they'd come in handy for something!

image.jpg

So the copper ring will be soldered ~5mm inside the pipe, as seen in the pic. This will give me room for a seal and a 2" glass disc from FSD, with the brass ring sitting flush with the edge of the 3". I've got 14mm M3 stainless Allen head screws on their way from eBay, I'll probably use 6 on each one. I'll clamp the copper and brass ring together and drill the holes so they all line up ;-)

And it will look something like this! But with screws and glass.

image.jpg

I reckon they're gunna look coooool. Cheers to DBV for paving the way on SP1 :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That's what Zeb said about the 'helmet" on Agrajag :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Got another day off today, should be able to get the 4 SG ports cut to shape and the rest of my easy flange rings made up. I can cut and trim my plates, too.

Now that I'm using 3" SG holes I'll be able to see more of the plate, so I'm going to use cup down comers instead of J traps. I'll knock them up today too :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Got a bit sidetracked so far...

One SG and the blockhead PC mount cut and shaped

Plates for my RC cut and cleaned up

And this is where the action happens!

I've also cut a bubble plate, and soldered up the blockhead but ill clean it up a bit before I show you that.
