Good going mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Good idea just to complete 3 now so you can get her running but can I suggest the piece you're saving for the packed section be used for another plate tee or two?
Reason being, general thinking is minimum of 5 plates AND a packed section for neutral.
So, having 3 plates and a packed section may not give you the proper refluxed neutral

I think your right mate, i have been fixated on using this 500mm piece for a packed section because its already cut to size. Ill just chop the bugger up when i need more tee's, say in a few weeks when i can bothered. but for now 3 plates it is. Looking forward to getting this done. I dont see my self building another for a while...

G'day gents,

I have been busy in my shop getting the last pieces of my bubbler done. i finished welding in the cooling tubes for my RC today and just need to put on the flanges and inlet/outlet tubes. this is the last major fabrication part for my bubbler. only a few flanges to retro fit it to the existing 2' pot still after the condensor. I have a question for all the bubbler builders out there. Although a little after the fact. Do people build baffles into their shotgun reflux condensers? i thought about it today but just couldn't be farked. does it matter or just extra work because a simple condenser is already efficient enough?

I have just built mine to the standard 4" diameter/4" high with 9 cooling tubes that are 3/4". Cheers guys

Rocky

If your condenser is over 130mm tall it should be fine without them.
Ive got 1 in mine but that is because its only 80mm tall.

I built mine at just over 100mm so i hope i don't have any issues. If this works and gets me bubbling i will be stoked.

How did you construct your baffle scythe? Is it just a extra plate in the middle or did you make it multiple baffles?

Very few RC's that I've seen have baffles... it's just not really necessary at this level.

Rockybrewa:
first post 2nd image

Baffles not really needed as most RCs seem to work on a trickle of water.

ALMOST DONE!

I only have to sweat 1 more joint which is the top 2x4 reducer to the 180 bend and put easy flanges on the reducers. 2 FLANGES AND SWEAT 1 JOINT!

Quick trip out to perth tomorrow to pick up all the clamps and seals to get this thing running. Then on to cleaning / problems solving and leak tests.

Hoping to run my first MacWhisky this weekend before i head back to work.

Just finished th last of the metal fab :happy-partydance:

Time to reward my self with a nice cold beer. I would have a whisky but i dont have any.

Now i have to run it up, test it, and polish the fucker and give it a name. Thanks to all the people who have helped me through on this thread and forum. A bit of work to go but all the hard stuff is done.

Still going to build another tee in the next few weeks/months and maybe rebuild the RC (im not completely happy with the quality but it will work). Ill post up a few more photos as i go through and finish off the little things now.

CHEERS ROCKY!
