OK update time.
I tried washing a bit of yeast out of some of my ujsm grain bed. After watching countless YouTube videos to refresh myself on the process I proceeded with great enthusiasm and vigour.
2 days later and countless washings later there was still schmutz mixed with the yeast, little corn particles that I just couldn't remove. Much harder to remove than hops particulate in beer trub.
So my conclusion is this, if you have the patience then it surely can be done but for what a tin of lowans costs, for me its just not worth the effort.
Was a great experience made me realise why I moved from beer brewing to distilling.
