Yeast nutrient overload?

Hi Everyone

I'm new and have just got my first still (pure distilling reflux). In the kit, I received some of their pure spirit yeast.

Now after all I've read, and spoken to a mate, I have gone out and bought enough for a few batches of TPW. I am planning on putting 75l of wash down tonight.

If I use this yeast in the recipe, will it be nutrition overload? Should I stick to plain bakers yeast?

Thanks

Gday,
Chances are, the yeast that came with your still, is a Turbo yeast... not good flavour but excellent for the first run to clean out your still (fabrication oils, dust and dirt) commonly known as a sac (or sacrificial) run.
Check the Newbis section, by far my favourite section!
So, IMO, I’d use some of your TPW ingredients with that yeast and clean out your still.... then use bakers yeast and the rest of your ingredients to do a proper TPW for subsequent runs.

Check out some of the topics in my signature for more specific instructions.

Pure spirit yeast can be used for yeast the yeast is not the problem its the nutrient and overload of sugar the causes the off flavor have used a teaspoon to ferment out apple juice with out a problem .

I used to split turbo packs into 4 before learning the right way

Thanks for the replies everyone. I might use the yeast I got with it (it's a decent amount) to run the first run, then use the rest to make some vodka/liqueurs and use my bakers yeast with TPW for whiskey/bourbon.

Hi Astro, TPW makes great neutral when run through a reflux column but it will not make a good whiskey if pot stilled as it will end up tasting like tomatoes.
You'd be better off with CFW or WBAB.

Thanks mate. I only have the reflux atm however I am already set on getting a pot. When I get the pot and some other equipment though, I want to start from scratch with grain recipes.
