Would like to have a go at macStill's tomato paste wash.
Have all the ingredients. The description does not mention the addition of the yeast.
Friend from bakery has given me a lump of bakers yeast from which I will knock of 80m grams.
Do I mash/disolve it in some of the wash below 30 degrees then stir it in??. Only used powdered before and stirred it in.
Got know clue at the moment. Baldric.

Confused whats yeast look like is it a frozen block? Or compressed dried block
But yes 80g in some wash until foaming then into main vessel will work :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It’s fresh yeast, normally found in 500 gram blocks and needs to be refrigerated and even when refrigerated only has a 5 or so days life.
You will need to use more of the fresh stuff than the dry , usually double.
And yes, dissolve it in some warm water with a little sugar that’s been dissolved.
If doing 50 grams I would use 1 liter of water.

Hi, I'm new to this site and distilling (live in SA) and have an air still. I have only used the brew shop yeast, etc. before, and don't do the cut at the beginning - do I need to do it with TPW, if so how much? Thanks

Hey Eileen,

Why don't you jump on newbies corner and have a read and chuck an intro post to say hi and give us a run down of what you are hoping to produce with what you have.

Also, you need to cut a minimum of around 200ml of foreshots. I personally cut alot more

Hi Eileen,

Newbies Corner is locked for posting but you should still be able to read it. You need to do cuts on all runs regardless of the source wash. Please pop into the Welcome Centre and introduce yourself to everybody, people are more inclined to answer questions if they know a bit about you and your equipment. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
