we had a few chilly nights here below 8 Celsius and the UJSM wash it's currently working didnt stall, so it's pretty good I reckon.

edit: taste is fine :handgestures-thumbupleft:

UJSM? Is there anywhere on this site that lists all the bloody acronyms?

Valoren wrote:What yeast would you recommend, also I'm on the look out for suppliers of DAP and yeast nutrient cheaply, so far I haven't been able to find any suppliers in Sydney aside from home brew joints. Do you guys know of any suppliers? If I was in SA I'd have access to tons of winery suppliers but I have no idea about suppliers here in NSW.

The Cooperage at Smithfield , Sydney , sells DAP

Thread revival! I've done 15.35% with Lowans as my highest so far in about 18 hours. It can go higher than this if you pitch enough. Probably 20+% . Should you? Probably not, it's slower doing one 20% than two 10% and you'll end up with a worse product. Just like it's slower doing one 10% vs two 5%. But I think 10% is a good balance between convenience and time. I wouldn't go over 10% after seeing directly the differences so many times in the end product, but it's always good to experiment for yourself! :)

I had a spare bag of alcho tec 48 hr yeast so i divided it it into 4 and added it to my wash

30 liters of water
1/4 packet of turbo yeast
5kg of sugar
3liters of molasses
5 table spoons of lowlands yeast

Just curious will this wash react differently due to having 2 strains of yeast .

Most defiantly will to some extent. But you will soon see if it was worth it ;-)

It ruined the whole wash gave me a headache while i was making cuts .I don't know how people can use this shit
(turbo yeast). So it did make the wash finish rather quick but the whole batch is crap .What can i do to rid the bad toxins with out going all out on the turbo extra's (its a con first you buy the yeast then the carbon then all the other crap they flog to get a below par spirit
Note to self never even use turbo's not even a bit mixed with tried a proven lowans :violence-smack:
