Has anyone tried or even knew there was brewers yeast at various stockfeed places?

One near me is selling 1kg for $11. The price is certainly right, i was just wondering if anyone has had experience with them?

The girl at the counter told me brewers come in all the time to buy it.

Never heard of anyone actually using it for fermenting as its the yeast cake from the bottom of the brewery fermenters, its full of vitamin b12 and other good stuff and its used as a animal supplement,
I would suggest that there are better sources of cheap yeast, bakers yeast is a proven winner and is cheaper than the stockfeed brewers yeast.I get bakers yeast at $4 for a 500gram block.
Or buy in a top dollar yeast and reuse it.

yeah as far as I'm aware that shit is just dead yeast cells, meant to be used as a diet supplement for horses or something like that ;-)

davecuds, can you tell us more about your grainbill? I've never seen molasses and peat malt in the same list before, it sounds interesting..
