They responded fast (1 day), i like lowans 280G tube for my TPW and importantly my Pizza bases and other bread ideas :)

this is what i sent them :)

" Hi, there is a community of home brewers that use your dried instant yeast but have been having trouble getting the 280gram tubes. could you advise a current list of stockists in Australia that i could list on our web forum. Its seems Woolworths and Coles may not be stocking it anymore?
thanks Maheel "

That really does look like sand. :-D

Where/how the hell do you store it all so nasties don't get to it beofre you make good use of it?

I just wanted to add - Foodworks also has the Lowans out our way ( Southeast QLD, out towards Ipswich )

They also have - Epsom salts in the small and larger boxes, citric acid, home brand tomato paste as well as the Lego's low salt version and you can get 6kg of H/brand Sugar for about $6.30 which is only slightly more than Woolies.

Will check next week to see if they have wheat germ as I got my first 500g bag to try out on the DWWG from Woolies last week.

Cheers

I agree 5Star...in fact us folk up here in the "Far North" are lucky to be EVER remembered by Sydney types (eg State politicians :-x ) but I reckon it'd be worse if 'we' were in their sights, whomever they are.
Anyway, cheers (again) Maheel for the effort and may I add that 'my' local IGA (independent  ) always has Lowans Red and will happily source more if/when the shelves run out so...I guess if you want it, ask at 'your local' too. ;-)

MRS Mac.... its true you can't eat molasses everyday (although a little is good for you now and again) but I have no idea how you can drink a pizza... :?

I was shocked to see none on the shelf where it usually is here:o which mean't I couldn't do 2 x 30l TPW washes :angry-banghead:
so I had to ask IGA here, to see if they were out of stock or not stocking it anymore? they said " everyone has gone mad making hot cross buns, and they ran out, but restocking asap ".
I then realised that cooks use the stuff too  :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:
I am going to keep 2 tins up and stick 'em in the pantry now, I might need it one day :laughing-rolling:

I too ran out of Lowan's supply, so the local health food store gets 500g compressed bricks of "The Healthy Baker" yeast from these guys:

http://www.manildra.com.au/home/article/

About $6.50 a brick.

I'm up near Frank.

Hiya
We used the Allied yeast and it worked fine, we also bought some Lowans and they seemed the same, We've only done 1 run through the T500 and seemed OK
Made a few more washes up with both as well
I posted in TPW in tried and proven about my 1st TPW run
