I am using ec 118 to ferment 60 ltr of TPW and have a start sg of 1100 and finish at 990 with a wash temp of 16 c. this takes 4-5 weeks.
Using 35 grm of yeast, could the quaintity be increased to reduce the ferment time ?
Raising the brew temp would should also reduce time, Yes.? could be a bit costly to. have already one fish tank heater rod.
I am looking on my next order to change to lallemead QV43. I have heard it is more agressave.

More yeast may cut it slightly but higher temp will have more effect but the higher you go you may induce off flavours.

Been said too many times that this hobby takes a lot of patience to achieve good results.

Get some more fermenters and stagger your washes or use bigger fermenters would be my advice :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I agree with above stagger your ferments. More a bit yeast and a temp in the low 20s should work well. Throwing blankets over the fermenters help keep heat in in winter. I have tpw washes at 24c and finish around 2 weeks. I use 300w fish tank heater cost less than $10 delivered from fleebay.

How do you seal the fermenter with the cord from the fish tank heater coming out?

Get some 240v cable joiners. Drill hole in fermenter lid and use a grommet, cut cable and pass through and rejion with the joiners. in summer ya can remove and plug hole with cotton wool.
I got a expensive name brand heater and a cheap chinese 15 dollar one and the cheap one shorted out in two months of use. they wont accept a return product with the power cord been cut. :scared-eek:

Just using lowans bakers yeast $4 from coles for 280gm tho in around 1/3 per 25L

I just cut the plug off and wired on a new plug from bunnings. The 200L plastic drum has two inch screw in caps I drilled the hole through there and have a spare cap so I can swap out the caps as needed.

This one is about two months old so hope I don't have the same problem. Local shops only had 200w max and wanted in excess of $40 so I will still get change from four of them going off local prices.
