Defiance yeast

Postby woodduck » Sat Feb 13, 2016 6:00 pm

Hi guy's,

One great thing about living in the country is the great selection in our supermarkets :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Anyway, I've run out of lowans and the only yeast i can find here is "Defiance" instant dry yeast. I've had a bit of a look around and can't find any mention of it. Has anyone ever used this stuff and if so is it any good? Would there be any reason why it wouldn't work? I would like to use it in a bwko but I'm not sure if I want to risk the trial on an expensive wash.

Any thoughts would be great.

Yeah, its bakers yeast.

I've used this in a TPW without issue

http://shop.coles.com.au/online/nationa ... -yeast-dry

the only problem was the bloody price.

Thanks guys.

Yer the price was pretty steep compared to lowans $6 or there abouts but not sure if that is normal or just small town pricing.

I'll give it a crack and see what happens.

I wanted to try native bees, but 1 kg per hive per year vs 20 kg per hive per year is a big difference!
