wouldn't spit leave a bit of residue that might burn?
are you sanding it all back?
using flux? (i think it's not always required copper to copper but can't hurt)

Spit polish was just a figure of speach :laughing-rolling: . Yes sanding it, cleaning it, washing it ect ect. I always use flux, i would have thought it wouldnt work very well without flux as th flux creates a path for the solder to flow. Anyway, i fixed it by just reheating and brushing over the top with flux, worked a treat :handgestures-thumbupleft:

it dont damage the copper but the burnt flux wont let things stick, you brushed the joint again with flux so it cools the join somewhat allowing it to stick.

a big flame is your enemy using soft solder ;-)

Yeah i noticed that about burnt flux, i had to use my big torch cause i was to lazy to go get a refill of the small one, serve me right!. Brushing the join again works great, just makes the solder slide in nice if its messy, also cleans any burnt shit off it.

Yeah I checked bunnings (balcatta, Malaga and joondalup), in both the plumbing and welding section, LT venables, and another local hardware store. Running out of options haha

Hey all, need some advice on soldering a gap in copper tube, 2-4mm wide. Have had some success in the past but usually ends in years. Any help would be great thanks :handgestures-thumbupleft: .
