I've got my mate to help me with my BOK build and it's coming out great! (He's a masterbater/boilermaker with 30 years experience)
I showed him the photos for the soft solder shotgun build and he commented that if all the parts were correctly fitted and then tinned with solder, all you need to do is gently cook them together.

Masterbater boilermaker?
You guys are way out of step. Back the reality truck up fuckers.
There are only two proper trades. One is to be a driver for a bus load of strippers. The other is boilermaker.
For when I lay my hammer upon steel, the fitter shall whimper and hide.

Masterbater boilermaker. Get fucked.

OK OK GUYS :))

I was copping some shit behind the scenes from droo and his mate, so I did a little edit in his post 8-} to change "master metalworker" to a more appropriate "term" :-B

So we've had some fun, someone's ego got hurt & now it's time to move on

Cheers.

Hey Mac, (or anyone else that can answer)

About to do my first 4" ferrule to copper joiner...

Your 'roughing up' of the SS...are we talking buffed up with a wire brush wheel, or fully roughed up with a file??

Has anyone used these little torches for soldering? Wondering if its going to get the job done or if I need to go get a bigger one? The tip removes so can have just flame. Thanks. Gunna have a crack at a parrot. Then hopefully first pot still build. Sick of taking packing out of reflux then worrying about it packing in too tight ~x(

Just give it a go! It might be a real pain on bigger tube but should work for your parrot. I know I needed to open my propane torch (which is hotter than butane) up as far as it could go in order to get my plates soldered inside 2 inch copper.

How's the fish and chips in walkerston? I lived in Marian for a few years not too long ago. They even knew me by name at the fish and chip shop... Pretty sad really! Nice place.

Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

Cheers. Ill give it a crack and see what happens. If not might have to invest in propane bottle. Fish and chips doing a roaring trade lately. Keep losing power and they're the only one with a generator. Tell its cane cutting time

Guys, just grabbed a 4inch ferrule from MAC and I'm looking to add a fil port on the keg.

Anyone soldered SS to SS. If so does the process change?

I "hard soldered" my ferrule on using a ProSilver 34T rod and MAP gas. Worked out well.

I don't have access to a flame hot enough to braze.

Guess i'll have to drop it off to a metal shop somewhere.

So have a butane/propane torch and i have some copper. Ive soldered plenty of wires before with heat no flame but never done pipe work. I know i need flux and wire. Am i after sticks of wire or is it still a rolled wire providing its lead free i see a "plumbers wire" on bunnings website. Heading to bunnings on way home to pick up few little things to get me rolling. Was thinking of using my lpg bottle save buying butane will i just have to be careful of the heat i apply keep the flame moving over and around if i understand correctly lpg is hotter? Thanks all
