I think I went through so many due to my Torch issues. Plus I'm not a conservative type of person, left the torch running while I Flux the next solder sorta thing. Probably could have done it all more efficiently, but it gets the job done.

It hooks straight onto a 4kg gas bottle and I haven't had to refill mine yet. It's handled all soft soldering I've done and will hard solder the rings for easy flanges.

Pretty sure I've got one of them laying around, woody, I'll grab it tomorrow. Easy!

I used a trade flame kit, the yellow bottle TF ultra, mapp replacement. Only used one and a half bottles on the total build, I think Captain Redbeard might be sniffing his :laughing-rolling:

Im looking at this on ebay. Looks limilar to the one in your post but with a regulator and stuff as i will use 8.5kg or something.

You mention it will braze rings, do you think it would have enough heat for a 4" blockhead tee to be brazed?

Going to cost nearly $100 to buy a blockhead after shipping so maybe i should buy the right tools to do it myself and have the tool for life

That is a pretty good price actually
It should braze as propane gets to >1900*C when burnt in regular air atmosphere and copper melts at about 2000*C, its really all about flame size, a 25mm burner should get the job done.

Not sure, I've never bothered hard soldering anything but rings with it. My first thoughts would be no as ot takes a while to heat up those small rings. I have seen blokes pre heat with a ring burner to get the heat up.

You could just go get your local plumber to hard solder it up.

Mac... bit late to ask, but what flux do u use for the staino to copper... i have tried a couple of 'recommended' (from plumbing supply joints) and they are shit.

I've been struggling wasting heaps of solder and heaps of time, using a variety of fluxes and had everything on stainless come out crap. :crying-blue:

Bought a bottle of ezi weld 801..... perfect solder joint in 2 minutes tops. :happy-partydance: Wish I'd seen this sooner.
