External keg clean

Postby pochine » Sat May 03, 2014 10:26 pm

Anyone with a keg recommend how to clean up the outside of the keg? Just received my keg and was wondering what is the easiest way shine it up?

I will give it a good wash first. Should I use a SS a wire brush?

I would use a wire wheel on a drill :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I gave the wire wheel ago wasnt to my liking so i borrowed my spay painters orbital and hit it with P350 then P500 finished it off with the one of those polishing wheels from bunnings now i can see my bald head in the reflection :laughing-rolling:

Do you mean an orbital sander? I tried to get a SS polishing pad that fits to my drill but they didnt have any.

Don't be tempted to use a steel buff cos this happens Image
Stainless buff or flap wheels work well

This is working for me..

For deep scratches and if painted first start with a Josco Brumby Poly pad medium grit, not the cheaper paper based ones as they don't last and the finish is variable.
They come in several sizes to suit angle grinder mounts. Normally 100mm or 127mm. use selectively only on the areas where deep scratching is.

Next use the fine grade poly disk and work back the deeper areas you used the previous pad and a all over light touch up.

Grab the Josco buffing kit, designed to suit a hand drill mount, has two buff wheels and 2 polishing compounds. Spend as much time as you can using both.... no point saving the buff compounds and wheels.

Here's mine not finished yet, drain etc to do and final buff up...
