Hi all, just reinforcing the fact you need to point the keg away when releasing pressure! Surprisingly 20yr old Guiness doesn't smell too bad but as always it needs to be on your insides and not your shirt.

I've acquired these 2 great little 30Ltr Guiness kegs which I plan to use for either/or fermenters or ageing kegs.

I've recently done some CUB's which were easy (push ball bearing to release) and these were even easier to release. Will be cutting the tops and getting a 4 or 5" SS ferrule welded on.

They'd make a great little boiler for smaller runs.

looks like it's an S type fitting.
use a D Type fitting with 2X $2 coin on top of the central nob and latch the D coupler fitting down.
this releases the latch and then you can continue to unscrew the spear.
or 1x $2 coin and a S type coupler these have a longer central barb then the D type.

Vids a bit slow going, but will show you how :D

I just smashed the ball out of the middle of the spear with a long drift and a big hammer. The whole thing unscrewed and I threw the spear away. Easy peasy.

Makes sense, that little clip that causes so much heartache can't be that strong, enough force and it's taken care of.
