but, at ~$300 ea for a small scale legit enterprise, do you think they would be OK?
I'd look at tipping it on it's side.....

I don't know how it would go supporting a column. Might be too thin and bend/ twist/ collapse

I was given one similar going to use for mash tun

50l keg boiler 4" still mount 4" sight glass 1" drain..
4 plate 4" bubbler, 600mm packed section
