Yeah Crow, arc welding SS is a piece of piss, easier than mild steel I reckon. You can buy the rods anywhere.Get the 2 or 2.5mm rods in 316 and keep the amps low,may pay to practice on an old keg first till you get the amps set right :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:
It may even pay to degas the keg first :laughing-rolling:

I use arc on all the stainless fittings on my keg. Real pain - low amps made it hard to get the stick to arc compared to the normal mild steel. Also the thin wall of the stainless saw me blow a hole or two in it. Might have been due to me being a shit welder though. I'll be taking future stuff to someone that knows what they are doing ...

One of the biggest things with that Brownie, is preparation and take your sweet time, getting too excited and rushing it will blow holes in it everytime.

I had a tinker this arvo and discover this is simpler than I thought .....Wrong :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:
after acting like an octopus on steroids for 1/2 hour I ended up with this as a dry run to see what is going to be involved in this part of the build

I used a spare 18 gal keg from behind the shed ( thats where the spare kegs live :laughing-rolling:)and it is that close to fitting perfectly its not funny, but I have some fine tuning to do :angry-banghead: but the 1/2 hr I spent fucking around with this, I have a big smile of relief on the dial because it fitted inside ( nearly ) :D :D
