5" or 6" ferrule on keg

Postby Minijcw » Mon Jun 04, 2018 7:57 pm

Hi there
I am trying to workout a ferrule size on my keg to act as a fill port/cleaning port. 4" wont really work i measured my arm and its not happening.

I want to keep the 2" on top of keg. I have measured my keg to try and imagine the clearances between both clamps when boiler is in use. I can only guess the width of clamps at this point as i dont have any here to measure up.

Has anyone used a 5" or 6" on their builds. Will they work
Cheers.

If your keeping the original keg ferrule (2”) it would work.

But if it was me, I’d make the big ferrule for the still and have a smaller fill port...

A 6" ferrule is mighty large enough for all but the larger endomorphs to fit an arm inside for cleaning.
I put a 6" on my 50L and I've never looked back. It makes life easy.

6" to 4" or even 2" are readily available. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Mech did you put your 6" on and keep your 2" on the keg top as well. Or do you just have a 6" opening for duel purpose still mount and cleaning in same hole.

I have kept the 2" to attach my 2"still and I found the largest fill port I could fit was a 5".

Sorry to disappoint but we don't have 5", we do however have 4" and 6" in stock :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I'm using a 6" as a fill/view port on my boiler, works a treat. Easy to clean the inside of the boiler after a few manky rum washes go through it.

I bought an 8” ferrule, clamp and blank to go on top of 18 gal keg. Got a hole cut in the blank and 4”ferrule welded to it. Got a couple 2” ferrules welded around outside. Big fill and cleaning port but I pull my still down most runs.
