Burner for a 200l drum?

I have zero idea of burners never used one or seen one. Does anyone know a ready made unit I could use under a 200l stainless drum or a keg? Have the drum so figured I could use it for mashing/strike/sparge water. Would be good if I could use a keg or my 200l drum.

Or do I need to build a frame that would support the drum/keg and burner.. :-B :D

G'day Bluc,
All I did for my still setup was use an old 14" tyre rim of my old subi and cut a hole in the side for a 3 ring burner I bought from bunnings. Although it does run the still I do reckon it's under powered but for just heating water it would be fine. Just put a temp gauge on the the side of the keg to see the temp then when it's upto sparge temp either turn off the burner or just turn it right down.

Now for a 200 litre drum a truck rim may also fit the drum but one would have to measure it to be sure.

Cheers Bryan

You can get adjustable pressure regulators for LPG burners on fleabay that could about double the BTU output of a regular 3ring burner. They've been used successfully by many.

One thing is that a ball valve between boiler and worm? Big no no. Closed valve, not open to atmosphere= boom if left closed :scared-eek: . Be safe

LOL your both right .. was a broken ball valve i was using as a union .. if you went to twist the handle it would come off.. the ball was stuck solid thanks to being reversed over in the work truck.. :laughing-rolling:

Hey well spotted .. as you can guess .. I didn't plan this one .. it was more of " miles from home , crap im bored .. wonder what we can make if we raid that old viscount caravan for bits?" hence the ugly weld up job on the keg ..

It can be used either with the twin bar burner or the gas guzzling ring burner , ring is good for fast heat up and the bar is good to keep temp for hrs .
