100L Boiler ?

Hi guys

I really want to step up from the keg boiler to a 100L boiler but am struggling to find any suitable vessels. The shop bought ones are out of my price range for now. I was thinking is there any reason you couldn’t just tee 2 50 litre kegs together from the top? Any other ideas anyone has?

I’m not sure what hot water system tanks are made from but if they’re not 304 stainless and thick walled enough then it’d be no good.
Or if they’re copper then you’d have to be sure that they were made with lead free solder.

Thanks guys. That build is well beyond me and most impressive. I am going to the tip soon so will have a look. The other thing that has my attention is those 100 L stock pots. I imagine the better quality ones might be ok

Stock pots aren’t the best, the lids are generally too thin to support a still and then there’s the problem with sealing them.
I’d really urge patience and wait till you can either afford a FSD 100L milk can or till you find someone who can weld you up a couple of kegs.

Yeah that will prob be the best way, just thought I would throw the question out there in case there was an obvious solution that I hadn’t seen. Problem with the milk cans is the cost of shipping as I am in W.A. I buy all my gear from Andrew but the shipping these days is a killer

Sounds like you need a family trip to see the east coast... plus pick up a boiler on the trip :laughing-rolling:

Rinnai make em in stainless with some nice bsp threads on them, they come in upto 300l in size :naughty:

Older ones were copper and can be strengthened to hold a column generally they are thin. And going into holes. A member on here had the right idea used it as primary boiler and converted their keg into a thumper..

I am in WA and managed to get a 18 gallon (80L) Swan Brewery keg on gumtree they do come up occasionally. Some older ones are actually galvanized steel on the outside with and inner stainless steel cylinder. These I think are too much work. Attached is picture of my 50L and 80L keg boilers in the process of being built.

I may have a solution. A mate at work has these. All stainless exhaust stacks from a commercial kitchen. 500cm diameter so am thinking a 1 meter section and just get a plate welded top and bottom and a few ferrules and bobs your boiler :-)
