I guess u could assume btu by doing a side by side heat up of your burner and one with a known output, same amount of water, temp etc. time the heating of both, divide the known btu by the time taken to heat up to break it down and +/- to the others time to get an approximate of the other. Does that make sense? :(

Mine is a manufactured unit so a quick google and I had the output :)

Gas Consumption

It's rating would only be at full power wouldn't it? I hardly ever run mine at full noise and all depends on the output of your reg as well

It makes sence Urrazeb, would be alot of variables though, wash temp, water temp, get a ruff idea though. Id do it if i had 2 units lol. Probably sam, like you say there's the reg to, i cant get my head around how to work it out. Someone would know.

I spose I could heat 10l @ 25C water full rip to a boil and post results here. U can then get water to 25C and let yours rip and we have a VERY rough idea of output. I believe manufactures have a controlled environment to measure their products, a bloke in his backyard mixed with copious amounts of distillate is far from controlled :)

This vid is for entertainment purposes only, I don't heat up like this normally, as you can see it just deflects the flame.

So can you tell what BTU you are putting out at any given setting on the reg?

I think it must have on the ally plate thats melted in the first pic, but the brand and model is visible on the other side so I used the never fail google and found http://www.downundercamping.com.au/product.php?productid=19705&cat=409&page=2%20 was easy for me.. I only have a 150kpa reg on it too, yours is 600 right?

would that increase the btu output if I fitted a 600kpa...? I dont know :-| bring yours with you wen u come west and we'll see! :-D
