Hilly's new boiler

I've been waiting for a weekend that i could upgrade my current boiler with fill and drain ports but I got sick of waiting so just thought I would get a new boiler made with a few improvements. :happy-partydance: :happy-partydance:

I'm getting both both elements as low as possible parallel to each other, 4" fill port and 2" drain, and i'm getting legs about 400mm high so I can put a 5L jug under and carry waste, 400mm, im thinking 400mm is a bit high but being at my parents ATM while my house is built i have to jug the waste out.

Only piece of advise is, if you're using Mac's elements, either have them on different levels, or weld the sockets in so that they don't point right at the middle. Otherwise the bastards intersect each other.

I'm having to screw around with extra sockets and hex nipples to fit both of my elements in after making that mistake.

On the opposite side of the coin...

Ive got my elements on different levels...the bottom one as low as possible needs about 7L to cover it, whereas the top element (and it's just about as low as can be in relation to the bottom one) needs about 18-19L to cover it 8-}

Best bet for anyone that hasn't had the sockets installed yet, is to get them both on the same level but welded on an angle so they can be parallel to each other...

I basically cut another keg and put it underneath. This has allowed me to put a 90 degree 1 inch pipe with tap under the boiler. You can then attach a pipe to syphon out. I was a little worried at first that it might not be stable enough but it's not a problem.

If I may, at this stage it would be easy to add a 4th leg at the front, and move the 2 side legs (unless they are already welded), as with the 4" port, its tempting to rest a bucket on it, and they get a bit unstable with the 3 legs.
If its not going to be moved, the 4 leg rocking thing is a non issue, just pack up the short leg/s.
