Castlemaine Perkins keg

So I recently scored me another keg while at the scrappies the other day. From the outside markings its a castlemaine Perkins keg. After getting the spear out ( and what a pain in the ass that was ~x( ) it turns out there's this funky looking half basket set up inside.
Has anyone seen these before? It comes in 3inch instead of 2. So I'm thinking of using it for low wines if I can figure out how to make/where to get blanking cap and tri clamp to suit. Or should I hang onto it for now and possibly use it for holding a basket? Only thing is my pot and reflux are both 2inch. Hmmm decisions, decisions.
Anyways if your chasing 2 inch steer clear of these ones (as I didn't measure, just saw it and said yes)

I think you'll find that that bit unscrews and will Reveal the normal 2 in top get some big stilsons on there and give it a turn

Buying from a scrap yard does not give you legal right to use the keg putting the name of the keg on the internet is not smart.

I reckon these must be a new/different type. I've leant on this thing with everything I've got on a decent sized Stilton to no avail. After another inspection I can't even see where it's meant to split :angry-banghead: Here's a piccy. Is this the same do you remember. Cheers

All good 8 ball.
I've heard of people putting a rock basket in there columns.
Would that be beneficial to make a basket to suit this?
Then put a 3inch to 2inch reducer in to suit my reflux. Or would the basket be too small with the openings already there?
Or would it be too much of a restriction for trying to enter the column.
I'm starting to think I've put this in wrong area now :violence-stickwhack:
Any info greatly appreciated. Cheers. Brad. PS punctuation was never my strong point
