pump out boiler

What would be a good option to pump out hot dunder from the bottom of the electric boiler after a run? There is a side drain near the bottom but it leaves about 5 litres in the bottom of the boiler and I would like to get the rest out before I add more wash for the next run.

I will look at getting a bottom drain added in the future but need a solution for now.

There is a 4" fill port so I thought about adding cold water to the dunder to cool it down and using the shop vac to suck the remaining out.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Bunnings have a small pump which fits on your drill. its about $20 i think.( found in the tool shop)
as you said, you will need to cool the dunder first. ;-)

Or get a little brown pump for about $20. They are food safe and can handle up to 110c and you just need a 12v power supply to run it.

You can pull apart an old washing machine and get the water pump out.
The spindle will go in a cordless drill, couple of hoses and away ya go.
Pretty much the same as the Bunnings one Kimbo mentioned.

If you do go with a motorized one keep in mind that you will have to prime it before they will pump they won't suck up the liquid from the bottom if there is air in the tube Irecon LX77 's idea with the jiggler syphon is the go cheap no power and easy. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You could knock up a trap using a bucket with lid and a bit of tubing. Drill a hole for your shop vac to push into the lid and another one to silicon some rigid tubing into such that it will extend into the bucket no deeper than the maximum depth of dunder you'll be pumping out, other end of the tubing into the boiler and turn on your shop vac. Suction will pull the dunder into the bucket where it will be trapped.

You can have a bit of copper on the inside of the boiler joined to the tap. Bend the copper so it sits at the bottum of the boiler.
I have my boiler elevated so it just gravity feeds out the tap.

I got a 240v caravan pump off ebay.
I plumbed it up to either transfer wash from fermenters to boiler, pump out dunder from boiler, and pump cooling water, works awesome

I just use one of them drill pumps works sweet as
i even use it when dunder is hot i have stuffed a bit of stainless tube in the end of the hose so it don't move around in there
all so helps with getting 99.9% of the dundee out :handgestures-thumbupleft:
