Received my 5 star sight window today and must say that i am impressed with the quality and service.
Need to install into my keg and wondering the best way to cut the hole in the keg.
Also which might be done with the same tool how best to cut the top lip of the keg as well.
another question as well is the difference between a 5 star Thermo Kit and a Thermometer.

Hey mate! Use a hole saw with cutting oil for SSG. lots of pressure not too fast and an angle grinder with stainless cutting disc for the lip. Get rid of the left over weld with a fine flap disk :handgestures-thumbupleft:

What size is you sight glass? I just used a dremel cutting tool then with a curved file finishedcto size, rest as leeroy says. Remember measure twice cut once :handgestures-thumbupleft: it not as forgiving as wood

The cutting tool looks awesome and also expensive.
You advertise the thermo kit and a thermometer and wondering what the different is.
The meter look the same and wondering which to buy for my keg boiler?

Hey Dezza
The kit has the thermometer plus ferrule, seal, clamp etc.
You probably want the kit

Ah ok, they are both the same thermometer.... one just comes with the weld on thermowell & the other is just the thermometer :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Here's a couple of pics of the thermowell with the ferrule to weld on the boiler.

The thermometer just screws in to the thermowell :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hope that helps :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Have cut top of the keg with angle grinder and then cleaned up with the flapper disk.
Came out alright.
Started polshing a little and can see if you want a shiney keg it is going to be a lot of work!
Cut the hole for the sight window using a smaller hole saw and cut about six holes and then cleaned up with a dremel tool.

Pic of my keg so far.
Have a keg king element in the back that you cant see.
Going to order the thermometer now and install and get both welded at the same time.

Have received the thermometer kit, and must say again happy with the service and quality.
Have drill the hole and now ready to weld with the window.
Looking for a welder in the Melbourne Sth east area if anyone can recommend someone.
My wash is nearly ready and very excited to get moving on this.

It's coming along nicely Dezza, Finding a welder is realy something you need to sort out yourself if you want the best work go to a stainless steel fabricator also make sure that the keg is purged of oxygen when welded . :handgestures-thumbupleft:
