Finally decided to lash out and buy a 3 ring burner. Don't get me wrong the BD747 has served me well as did the little one ringer on HP before it. AS a lot of you people know I mainly use an 18 gal boiler under a 4" plated column so I am wondering if I should use the regulator provided o:-) or hook it up to the adjustable HP reg

HP reg mate, it'll take 3 hours to heat up otherwise.
Stop being a tight arsed prick and run a 20amp circuit to the shed, if you do I'll bloody gift you a couple of elements & guards just because I like you :romance-kisscheek:

yeah not that simple, see the feed to the house is lucky to be 25 and I need a horse drawn satellite to get down to the shed so we would be talking a big stack of drinking vouchers to get decent power down there :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Not sure if it would be much worse than that bacon bourbon shit a read about
Anyway ok sounds like adjustable HP is the way to fly , was a bit worried about it being over the top but I guess after using something that looked like a nazi flame thrower for the last few yrs............................

I don't reckon you will get bugger all out of any shop bought burner without a HP reg, even the italian and mongolian etc varieties :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Crow some of the stock regs seem to put out a bit more than others, My old 3 ringer used to go pretty hard without an adjustable reg on it, having said that If you already own a adjustable (HP) job Id use it.

Don't mean to derail your thread mate
What exactly is a 747? I've seen it referred to many times.. It's obviously some kind of gas burner... I've tried to find some info on it, but have been unsuccessful
Purely curiosity driven

well yes but its relative because while turned up it chews through it it heats up very fast so a much shorter run time. Fast or slow the same amount of gas always seems to get used I have found. I did a run with a shit burner once that took sixteen hrs and used the same gas as a 1 hr run :-B

Are you using the adjustable reg mate? If so, you need to slowly turn it up over a 10-15 Minuite period. The flame lifts off with mine too if I try to go all out from the start.

yeah I adjusted the air intake and it was much improved but I will have to fart around with those baffles a bit before the next run :angry-banghead:
