Ako's keg insulation project

I decided I wanted to help make my heat up time quicker by insulating my boiler with timber. As I run an electric element I decided that using timber was the go. Cheap and easy to work with (long as you have some basic tools). Timber has such great insulation properties and make the boiler a lot safer to be around :-D
A 6m lenght of timber 90mm x 35mm pine and a small sheet of ply should do the job

I do not have my still set up all the time so I have made this in 2 halves and hinged it so I can put it on once it's set up and easy to take off when I need to empty the boiler :happy-partydance:

Cool job Ako,

For those who have insulated their boilers like this, what is your experience regarding increased heating efficiency?

I have wrapped my keg in a thin layer of foam matting but not sure if I should go for something with better properties like this.

Appreciate any advice.

Thanks,

Richard
