120l keg boiler

I was thinking of cuttin a keg straight down the middle and adding a 400mm l x 400mm w x 450mm h section that would be 72l capacity put two 4 inch ferrules on one for fill port and the other for still mount put two elements in on one side a drain port underneath

Has this been done ???
Any sussgeustiins ???

Happy stillin

if it were me i would put the elements off to each side so it would be harder to flood the column.

Looks like a good idea tho.

That is a gal skin with stainless tank ,for me the 70lt useable capacity is a good match for the 4inch still,a bigger volume than that and the 6inch still would make more sense ,with a spirit run your 4inch and 70lt is still a long run ,4inch and 120lt would be a full day ,but put a 6inch on the 120lt and it will be a short run,its the size of still that determins production speed,a bigger boiler is good for stripping large amounts quicky but it will not speed up a spirit run, your heat up will be longer unless you add more power wich may require you to update your power supply .cheers hillzabilly

Nice keg ben. Cam locks will be good for hooking up a pump plumbing quickly.

The 18 gal - 80ltr kegs are a good choice.

But then again. . . . I am biased. :)

This one runs a 3600w + 2400w
Cuts the heat up time down.
Running on two different circuits.
