"Boil a beer" boiler adapter

Postby hoochlover » Wed Sep 23, 2015 7:48 pm

I have a "boil a beer" boiler, which is 30L, very similar looking to the T500 one. Except the hole on my lid is 60mm. If I wanted to get a 3 inch ferrule on there what is the best way to do this? Welding it? Is there an adapter already for it? Thanks.

So the T500 adapter will work for me too? I thought the hole on the T500 was 48mm or something like this.

Looking at the lid on the T500 it looks like my lid except it has an inner recess mine doesn't. Does anyone have the outer diameter of the T500 lid handy? Maybe it would fit on mine and I can just order one of their lids and an adapter.

Thanks for that, the boil a beer has 310mm lid too. It's probably the same company making both just with different lids I guess.

Is there any problem with having a 48mm opening going to a 3 inch (76.2mm) pipe in regards to performance?

no problem.
just need to consider if the boiler can produce enough heat for what you are planning and if the lid can handle the weight of 3 inch

I think you find that the t500 lid could be picked up pretty cheap and give you that 2inch hole to fit the adaptor

so far mine can handle the weight of 1.5m packed section with a 500mm shotty. she is top heavy but if i dont push or bump it its all sweet :handgestures-thumbupleft:
hangs about 2 inches from the ceiling when i have it on the floor now

Yeah I don't think the lid is the problem necessarily, I've put some decent weight on it and mine doesn't flex much, if at all. But the top heaviness is certainly an issue hehe. Do you have a pic of your rig?
