Need advice on a NG burner and reg setup

Postby gccmelb » Thu Dec 03, 2015 1:01 pm

Hi Guys,

I need some advice on a NG setup with a ~70L keg boiler.

My dad previously used a scrounged burner with reg from an old heater, but that has gone kaput after many years of great service.

He tried a single ring burner with a reg (LPG) but the flame was orange and producing soot.

I have convinced him to get a proper setup, as he was probably using a LPG setup.

I have been looking at Grain and grape and thought the Mongolian 23 (85 MJ/hr) looked ok but after reading posts here I thought this burner might be overkill.

I looked at Auscrowns Dual Ring Burner (70 MJ/hr) but the only problem is the Dual Ring Burner costs $139 whereas Mongolian 23 costs $79.

Once I decide on a burner, I assume auscrown or Barbecues Plus can help me with the appropriate regulator?

Sorry for the long post but thanks in advance for the any advice!

Cheers.

Its more than swapping a Regulator....

LPG runs at much higher pressure.

Reg is different for NG.

The Jet in the burner is different too. You should be able to get a burner that does both you have to change the Jet and or the Reg as well depending......

NG in my oven has a large jet and reg for NG.

It has a small jet for LPG.

What ever you choose make sure its not leaking.

use soapy water on a rag to check.
