Which keg to turn into a boiler?????

Hay all you wicked people
Just a quick question.
What is the better keg to use as a boiler I may or may not have or have access to a coppers keg and a Asahi keg both are 50L but the Asahi is a about 2inchs wider. My first thought was the the Asahi, but I've been told there a @&$& to open up, I may have tried and may have bustered half a dozen drill bits trying to put a hole in the "Jesus" clip still
With no luck getting a hole to work the bastard off. The coopers keg may have been a challenge aswell but success may have been a hell of a lot easier.

If I did have such kegs I would be turning one into a boiler and the other hold for low wines.

Youtube is your friend :-D I got my keg opened in about 30 seconds with a small screwdriver and a big hammer :handgestures-thumbupleft:

On this site are easy to follow instructions for degassing and removing spears from all sorts of kegs. Coopers are piss easy, maybe post a picture of your other one for help :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If you intend to install more than one element, be mindful of the limited space you have in the shorter D type kegs. It's really tight with these kegs trying to avoid element overlap & the elements might touch each other.
I used the taller A type keg & installed my elements on the same side but at different heights. Works perfectly with minimal cross over & no touching.

Got the A type kegs opened no worries this d type keg is a pain trying the get the clip off. I've watched the videos and red the forums here, most drill a hole in the clip so you can get some leverage to pop it off, that's my problem getting a hole in the clip. I think I need to get some better drill bits.
Interesting point about the 2 elements and space for them, I never really thought about that. I will be using to weldless fsd elements so may have to rethink about using the d type keg for that.

Drill :wtf: nar mate ya not likely to to reuse it so bash a flathead driver or old chisel under that clip and fck that shit up, then twist and lift the spear out of the cradle. After that the cradle will screw out, you can weld/solder or smack an oak bung in the spear cradled and it's perfect for a seal. Get some SS cable and you can thread oak sticks on it and attach the the cradle spear holding thingy for easy removal and adding of oak for aging/flavouring :handgestures-thumbupleft:
